Mexican Cypress and Monterey Pine, Whakamaru

Pinus radiata was at one stage considered too industrial to be seen by the public. So, rows of ornamental shielding species were planted at the same time to keep the pines out of sight. Here, on these pumice soils, Cupressus lusitanica was planted.
